What Is Sleep Apnea?

A sleep disorder that causes repeated awakenings that lead to significant daytime drowsiness, fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating, sleep apnea detrimentally affects a patient’s sleep habits and overall health. The American Medical Association reports that while approximately 30 million Americans have sleep apnea, a mere six million sufferers have been officially diagnosed.

How Harris Legacy Dental Can Help

We begin with an initial consultation and evaluation of your oral and overall health. Based on our findings, we may recommend using dental appliances or oral mandibular advancement devices that move the lower jaw forward and/or prevent the tongue from blocking the throat during sleep. Our team manufactures the dental/mandibular devices in-house to properly fit your mouth. Before scheduling an appointment, please contact your medical insurance provider for coverage options. For severe Sleep Apnea, a consultation and "nighttime sleep test" with a medical doctor may be necessary to determine the best treatment, such as a CPAP machine.
